NIGHT HUNTING
The best way to hunt a “big tusker” is through waiting or stalking at night
The preparation involves finding a suitable location near known boar activity, such as watering holes or feeding areas. Camouflage is essential, so wear natural colors non-reflective clothing and use natural cover or high stands to stay hidden. Scent control is crucial; minimize your scent by staying downwind and using scent-blocking products. Patience is key—remain quiet and still, waiting for the boar to come within range. Use night vision optics to improve visibility without alerting the boar.
For the stalking method, scout the area during daylight to familiarize yourself with the terrain and boar trails. Move quietly, walking slowly and carefully to avoid noise that could alert the boar. Stay downwind to prevent the boar from smelling you. Be ready at all times, as boars can be quick and unpredictable.
